Meet The Log Blog Writers

This Log Blog is definitely a work in progress -- much like our log home is at the moment!

We are documenting every step along the way in the process of building our "dream home"... a log home.

Who we are: Jim & Lynnette and we currently live in Nashville, Tennessee (...actually a suburb of Nashville called Franklin).
What we are building: A 3,500 square foot Log Home ...2-story, plus a walkout basement. (We've built a home together before, but never a log home.)
Where we are building it: Leiper's Fork area of Franklin, Tennessee in Williamson County. (Originally, we were planning to build at Swan Ridge Lake Resort on Dale Hollow Lake.)

If you, too, are considering building a log cabin or a new log home -- to live in permanently or seasonally -- then hopefully you will find some helpful tips & information from what we've learned along the way.

Chances are, even if you're building a traditional "stick home", we will still have a lot in common and we could benefit from each other's experiences.

If you've been there, done that... then please do share!

The aim here is to help current and future homebuilders (especially log home owners) save time, money & hours of frustration -- even if it is in small ways.

When you're building a home, the truth is in the details. Trust me when I say... I'll give you more details about the process of building our log home than you'll ever want. (I tend to be way overly-detailed all of the time.)

Well, thanks for stopping by... Be sure to drop a Comment or two on the articles that are most meaningful to you!

I live in a 34+- log house and am wondering if since my house has cathedral ceilings, should my roof have a ridge vent? Thanks for your input.
