We spent this past weekend in Dover, TN again...
While Jim was out of town (again) this past weekend, I spent a good deal of time looking for properties for sale on Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake.
I e-mailed Jim the details of several of the properties, and we both became so excited by all the possibilities that we decided to take our first trip to Dover, TN right away!
So yesterday I took the day off work and we made our very first trip to Dover, Tennessee... Stewart County... the Lake Barkley & Kentucky Lake area. (We wanted it to be a weekday, when the local offices would be open so we could actually talk to people about the area.
We are going to start our search for lake property at Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley -- the northern part of Middle Tennessee, near the Kentucky/Tennessee border.
After talking to Bruce & Beth, we are now extremely excited by all the new possibilities available to us.
We had never even thought of living on a lake before!
Here are some of the lakes around here that we feel are worth exploring...

So now, we are entering what I'm calling Phase 2 of our search for a place to build our dream home.
We've pretty much exhausted all the possibilities as far as land for sale around Williamson County goes.
Now we're branching out into all new territory -- any lake in Tennessee.
The one and only thing we know for sure at this point:
We want to stay in Tennessee!
Last night we hung out with a couple from San Diego. They're here visiting the Nashville area with the intention of scouting out possible places to live. They've seriously considering moving from California to Tennessee -- a longtime dream of theirs.
Turns out, they found some helpful information about the area from our Franklin website, and we've been corresponding via e-mail for a few weeks now.
When they arrived here in Nashville, we met them at their hotel & drove them downtown. We all spent the evening roaming around Nashville.
How does this relate to our search for land???
Well, we've pretty much been plugging away at this for a couple months now... driving to our favorite parts of town and looking for land for sale, and even considering existing homes for sale.
Frankly, it's become more frustrating than it's worth. We just can't find anything.
So now we're taking a different strategy...
