Douglas Lake Properties For Sale

Yet another lake we visited during our search for the perfect lake property is Douglas Lake in East Tennessee.

Here are our first impressions of that particular lake.

East Tennessee Lake In The Mountains

During the 2-week period when I experience a twinge of buyer's remorse... we decided to check out a few other lakes.

Up til then, we hadn't ever been to Douglas Lake. It's located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, not far from Knoxville and Gatlinburg.

Douglas Lake has a lot of expensive, high-dollar homes, so we didn't even think we could afford to build there. But, there were actually a handful of new developments going up, and we picked out about a dozen or so lots that we felt were well worth looking into.

Jim ended up spending 2 days riding all around with a realtor when he was in the area after on his way home from a business trip.

However, when it came right down to it, Jim said the lake lots around Douglas Lake weren't anything compared to the lake lots at Swan Ridge!

He was confident that we had done the right thing by choosing Swan Ridge. And, at this point, I was tired of looking and ready to move forward, so I too, conceded that we'd done the right thing by choosing to build on Dale Hollow Lake. (I passed on Jim's offer to drive me to Douglas Lake to see what was there myself.)

I was done shopping for lake property. It was time to start building!
