Are you in the process of building a log home?
Or maybe you recently built or moved into a log cabin and would be interested in sharing some unique or interesting stories about your log home experiences...
Despite the fact that the Log Cabin Society of Michigan has been trying (for the past 10 years!) to get a log cabin featured on a U.S. postage stamp -- no no avail -- the U.S. Mint has decided to put a log cabin on the U.S. penny!
I've always wondered which celebrities owned log homes. So I did a little digging and found some interesting ones.
Some of the following celebrity log homes are considered vacation homes or part-time residences... but how many celebrities actually live in just one home year-round anyway?
Check out which celebrities own log cabins...
Abraham Lincoln's farm land is up for sale to raise money for a new log cabin and visitor's center.
Small parcels of the 4-acre tract will be sold to the general public.
We're talking really small... something like 1-inch square pieces. These are souvenir land deeds only. While they are not sure exactly how many parcels of land will eventually be sold, there are more than 6 million square inches in an acre -- in case you were wondering.
It will include a deed that can be recorded with the idea that it's to have something you can frame, but it will be more to have the land owned 'by everybody' and help ensure its preservation. Source
The monies raised will be used to restore the log cabin that is located on the property, and to also build a visitors' center and walkway with signs detailing Abraham Lincoln's history.
If you caught the first episode of Gone Country last night (it's a new reality TV series on CMT that follows 7 celebrities as they try to make their break in the Country music industry), then you may be wondering whose log home that is and where it's located.
It's definitely a looker...
Jim and I were at the final taping of Gone Country back in October, and we've wondered ever since which house the celebs stayed in while the filming was taking place in Nashville.
But it wasn't until we saw the first show on CMT last night that we noticed the big "JR" on the front door handles to this mansion. Of course, that stands for John Rich. So it must be his house... Right?
Not so fast. As it turns out, there's an interesting story to this particular log home that's located in Nashville, Tennessee.
Here's the scoop...

I wrote earlier about how you can get a free 1-year subscription to Log Home Living magazine.
I've already received mine, and I enjoy that magazine very much.
Good news... now, you can get a free subscription to Log Homes Illustrated, too!
Log homes are becoming more and more mainstream. (Thank goodness...)
