We drove to Center Hill Lake -- near Smithville, Tennessee -- this past weekend. We wanted to see how many log homes have been built in the area. We also wanted to see how the lake lots on Center Hill Lake compare to the lake lots on Dale Hollow Lake. Here are some of the log homes we saw.
Center Hill Lake is between Dale Hollow Lake and where we currently live in Williamson County, Tennessee. It only made sense to see what lake property was for sale there, but we never found anything we liked.

The thick perimeter of land surrounding every major waterway in this state is technically owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or the Tennessee Valley Authority. As a result, they dictate what you can and cannot do on that piece of property between your house and the lake.
While looking at log homes along Center Hill Lake in Smithville, Tennessee last week, we saw close-up for the very first time was a home that looked like a log home, but wasn't. It had log siding -- or tongue & groove -- inside and out.
