Top 5 Best Places To Build A Log Home

| Comments (0)

I'm about to list the Top 5 places to build a log home, according to the editors of Log Home Living Magazine (August 2007).

But before we go there, I think we all would agree that there are plenty of other locations that should've made the list... but didn't.

I hope that others who read this will take a second to share their favorite place to build a log home or log cabin in the Comments below.

Now, onto the Top 5...

The editors of Log Home Living Magazine have compiled the following list of "The Best Places To Build (That You've Never Heard Of)":

#1 Wapiti, Wyoming

#2 Harney County, Oregon

#3 St. Johnsbury, Vermont

#4 Pendleton County, West Virginia

#5 Mountain Home, Arkansas

Apparently, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho appeared somewhere else on the list. (I haven't read this issue of Log Home Living yet... but it's definitely one of my favorites!)

And, on a related note...here are the most ideal areas for sites on which to build a vacation log home (according to The Log & Timber Homes Network).

Of course, I'm biased, but I vote for Tennessee -- specifically, Dale Hollow Lake (in Clay County) or Franklin/Leiper's Fork (in Williamson County).

UPDATE 5/19/08:
Log Home Living magazine has updated the list for 2008! It now features "The 10 Best Places To Build In America". They are:

  • Sault Ste Marie, Michigan

  • Bisbee, Arizona

  • Cortez, Colorado

  • Darvis, West Virginia

  • Presque Isle, Maine

  • Berea, Kentucky

  • Salmon, Idaho

  • Aberdeen, Washington

  • Black Mountain, North Carolina
