Personally, I would only recommend this particular piece of furniture for dogs that don’t mind being kept inside a crate. I only say that because a dog who isn’t comfortable inside a kennel or crate is likely to get overly excited or anxious — to the point that he will jostle the crate a bit. In that case, whatever you have “on display” on the tabletop portion could take a tumble.
